Summer at Smile Café Demo Walkthrough

The Summer at Smile Café demo is available free on Steam and covers the opening story plus two character routes. This walkthrough guides you through every demo scene, choice, and mini-game.

Demo Content Overview

The demo includes the full opening act: protagonist arrives at Smile Café, sets up freelance workspace, meets the staff, and completes the tutorial commission. Two character routes are playable to their demo endpoints, featuring 20+ CG scenes and 6+ mini-game types.

Demo content ends before the mid-game time skip and does not include routes for all eight characters. The full game adds six more routes, 60 additional CGs, voice acting, and the complete achievement set. See the download guide to upgrade from demo to full.

Opening Act Walkthrough (All Players)

Scene 1 — Apartment: The game opens in your overheated apartment. Click through the intro dialogue establishing your freelance artist profession. No choices affect outcomes here.

Scene 2 — Arriving at Smile Café: Pack your gear and head to the café. Meet the Manager who welcomes you to work from a corner table. You are introduced to Envy and Zoe at the counter.

Scene 3 — First Commission: The freelance tutorial triggers. Complete the drawing mini-game at any accuracy level to proceed. See the mini-games guide for scoring tips.

Scene 4 — First Shift: Work a café shift meeting Nicole and Ada. Dialogue choices here nudge initial affection but do not lock routes. Explore the character profiles to learn who each person is.

Demo Route Branching

After the opening act, the demo lets you pursue two routes based on who you spend the most time with during days 3-7. The demo primarily features Envy and Zoe routes, with Nicole appearing as a supporting character in both paths.

Envy demo path: Visit the café during morning shifts and choose supportive dialogue. Envy's demo route includes a workplace competition mini-event and two CG scenes. See the full Envy route guide for complete route details beyond the demo.

Zoe demo path: Participate in group café activities and choose playful responses. Zoe's demo route is lighter and includes a drink-making mini-game. Continue with the Zoe route guide in the full game.

Demo Limits and Transition to Full Game

The demo ends after approximately 6 hours with a "To Be Continued" screen prompting purchase. Demo saves are separate from full game saves. Achievements earned in the demo do not transfer.

What you keep: knowledge of mini-game mechanics, character personalities, and dialogue patterns. What resets: all progress, affection levels, money, and gallery content. Start fresh with the how to play guide when you purchase the full version.

After purchasing, consult the full story walkthrough and tier list to plan your complete playthrough strategy.

Demo-Specific Tips

Use the demo to practice drawing mini-games without financial pressure — demo commissions pay enough to proceed regardless of score. Experiment with dialogue choices to see how different characters react before committing to a route in the full game.

Visit your apartment and the supermarket area if available in the demo build to preview Yuna and Miss Mango characters. Even brief interactions help you plan future routes using the route planner.
